Brief Description: Final riveting and fibre glass work
After the MDRA inspection today, I pulled the rudder out to finish it off.
I added a blob of RTV as per the manual at the trailing edge where the stiffeners meet. Once that was done, I closed up the rudder and riveted the skin to the spar with 3-5's.
The top of the rudder receives both 3-3.5's and 3-4's. I still have to roll the leading edge and will attempt that tomorrow. I need a few more flush pop-rivets to finish off the hard to reach spots on both the top and both near the trailing edge.
I also measured and cut the bottom rudder fairing. A little more sanding tomorrow will finish off the fit and I'll match drill it to the rudder. I'll probably add a few aluminum strips inside the fibre glass pieces for some extra strength for the rivets.
I'm going to have to think about the wire for the tail light and get that ready to go.
